"Recipes are science experiments you can eat"
I don't usually have Saturdays off but this year my work has given me more Saturdays off, which I'm wrapped about. Now I can do more things with my children and my husband can just potter for a morning, which he loves doing!!! Lol
So this morning my Miss Now 3 and I did some pickling and also some baking.
We bought a big freezer bag of red onions during the week for only $1. A bargain like that was too good to refuse and whilst I grabbed my bag, a lady said she pickles hers. So I set myself the challenge to learn how to. Growing up my mum and dad used to bake and make lots of things like home made jam, relish etc
So I found a recipe how to pickle onions, and was already armed with a recipe for coconut jam drops.
I did have to ring my dad to find out how to sterilise my jars! Ha ha I think he was proud I was doing it but gave little giggle when I first said what I was doing.
They both turned out great and Miss Now 3 had a great time.
I love these times with her as it makes me realise just how much more she is capable of and gives me the opportunity to let her learn and guide her.
So here are our finished products and the links to the recipes. Enjoy
Cheers K x
